We are delighted to welcome Dr. Yussif Sulemana as our new Managing Director. He takes over from Kofi Tagoe-Mocumbi, who led TOR through challenging circumstances with unwavering commitment.
Dr. Sulemana is a highly experienced Energy Management Strategist with over 20 years of expertise spanning the Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream sectors of the energy industry, including petroleum, power, and alternative energy. His specialization includes oil & gas production, refinery process optimization, and systematic troubleshooting.
Before his current national assignment as TOR MD, Dr. Sulemana had served as a Senior Oil & Gas Production Operations Specialist at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in the Sultanate of Oman. His previous roles include Project Manager (Gasification) at Genser Energy and Chemical/Process Engineer at Tema Oil Refinery.
Dr. Sulemana holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Energy Management) from the USA, an MSc in International Oil & Gas Management from the UK, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from KNUST, Ghana.
Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. Sulemana is a STEM advocate and mentor, passionate about nurturing future energy professionals. His thought leadership in the energy space has earned him recognition across top media platforms in Ghana, culminating in his Energy Advocate of the Year award at the Ghana Energy Awards.
With a deep commitment to integrity, professional excellence, and continuous improvement, Dr. Sulemana continues to shape the global energy industry while mentoring the next generation of leaders.
At a brief handover ceremony at the refinery, Dr. Sulemana shared his vision of harnessing the refinery’s assets to drive growth and achieve operational sustainability, highlighting the significance of teamwork and collaboration in adapting to the changing energy landscape.
He brings his wealth of knowledge and expertise, as well as a fresh perspective, to lead and shape the future of the refinery; and we are excited to begin this new journey under the leadership of Dr. Yussif Sulemana.
